My visual album project, "This is 2020" was released October 24, 2020 and chronicled my personal perspective on the year that changed the world. My song, "I Still Love You" written and performed with my friend and "bigger than life" talent, Timothy Bloom was included on the album as a tribute to my parents who were married for 47 years when my father died unexpectedly in his sleep in 2020. The song is a reminder that love forever remains and knows no bounds. I have loved songwriting since being a small child; recording songs I created on cassette players, mimicking singers I looked up to and dreaming of "becoming a singer" some day. As well, I sat faithfully in front of the tv to watch the Grammy awards for decades imagining hearing my name being called. This recognition is a sweet reminder that anything is possible. I thank God for always showing me life is full of surprises, so enjoy the ride. Out of darkness, can come light!!! To music...I Still Love You very much!!

CREATIVITY IS EVERYWHERE!
One thing Louisiana has no shortage of, and that is talent! In every medium from art, cuisine, writing, craft makers or music. The list is endless. Being a singer, I have found a new 'band," if you will and an exciting way to make music with others in various creative spaces. I am honored to collaborate with these amazing people as we have opened a new maker space, Attakapas Collective Outpost. Our cultural co-op highlights artistic individuals and emerging entrepreneurs from Louisiana. We are an artisan led enterprise using our passions to create a positive community. There are books, food, jewelry, art and so much more showcased in our store. So yes, I am still making music but for now it has a slightly different timber!! "Tired" aired on November 6th as the first teaser in the series of videos which speaks to the feeling of loneliness and depression which has become a symptom of the effects of this year. It speaks to those who are tired of so much we've faced in 2020 and echoes the cries of many. It is a healing song that reassures people that these feelings are a shared emotion.

Mistress of Ceremonies for Love of People Gala at Science Museum & Rock n Bowl
What a memorable event for a worthy cause! The Love of People organization is dedicated to helping provide much needed services for the Louisiana music community and I am beyond excited to have been the Mistress of Ceremonies for this event. As a performer and singer, I know first hand the struggle to get quality healthcare, medical and even retirement benefits as a entrepreneur which most musicians are!!! Self-employed!!! When you don't work, you don't eat!! Which seems the case for most professions but often creatives are a forgotten clan once their "glory days" are long behind them. However, the Grand Gala starting at the Science Museum, then moving with a second line to Rock n' Bowl-Lafayette was a magnificent event that showed me there are businesses, companies and other musicians willing to help sustain our creative community!! The night was magical and one I'm so happy to have been a part of!

Showtime 6:30pm
southernrenaissancetag:ericafox.com,2005:Post/60571942020-01-02T21:27:19-06:002022-08-02T00:26:30-05:00New Single: Tribute to legendary blues singer Carol Fran
A love story that began in December..."the sweethearts of the Blues", Carol Fran and Clarence Hollimon were one of the most traveled and often recorded husband and wife duos in Blues history. Hollimon considered one of the greatest guitar players in his musical genre and Carol, a fiery chanteuse and piano player with a string of hit singles became even more powerful when they teamed up together on stage. "Gristle" and "Blabs" as they were affectionately known set stages afire with their musical prowess only matched by their special bond as husband and wife. So special the couple shared birthdays only a day apart.

Carol's rendition of "Crying in the Chapel" is simply beautiful and in my opinion the best version of this love song. Her version, covered prior to Elvis', was positioned to make great headway but was stalled shortly after his release. This project was our effort to not only bring her song back to the forefront but to share the "Golden Girl's" love story.

This release was only made possible by the sheer love and support of people who shared a deep affection for Miss Carol. I was deeply moved at the selfless contributions to make this song possible, some while going through their own personal battles. These incredible musicians, "Pop" Lee Allen Zeno, Jill Butler Merkl, Steve Adams, Chad Fouquier and Joshua Lazo or "one take wonders" as I like to call them brought the song back to life and created a magic that I had never seen before.

The actors in the video below added spice to the story and truly helped bring the song to life. Director JD Mosley created a piece of art and I am excited to share his masterpiece today. The cast of talented creatives includes Tweedy Francis, Destine Broussard, Alena Fields Savoy, Brandon Foster, Monique Broussard Francis and "Pastor Mosley." They created such a beautiful scene and are extremely talented individuals. Tweedy actually wears a jacket of Mr Clarence and has a connection tot he family that was not revealed until the making of this video. I felt the actors could not have been more perfect to bring this vision to life!

It took four months to make this gumbo but I believe it was well worth the care and time these people put in to help retell the story of a beautiful couple. We enjoyed sitting with Miss Carol as she shared her music adventures and I will be releasing some of that footage as well very soon.

All proceeds from the streams or sales of this song will go to Miss Carol to help offset some of her personal expenses. Please support our homegrown "gem" and Lafayette star in any way you can! PLEASE LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE & PASS ALONG THE SONG/VIDEO. We love her and hope you enjoy our tribute and interpretation of her classic song.

For the moment you all have been waiting (and patiently reading), I hope you enjoy the video. "Crying in the Chapel" A Tribute to Miss Carol Fran
southernrenaissancetag:ericafox.com,2005:Post/60448022019-12-24T16:04:22-06:002023-12-10T10:58:26-06:00Song inspiration doesn't just come when ya call it! Or does it? Heart of the Song with Michael Juan Nunez
I am so lucky to have a front-row seat to the music genius and art of some amazing music artists. Interviewing Michael Juan Nunez was nothing short of spectacular! His perspective and empathy for the small wonders of life truly translates in his work. Although, someone who seems born to write great songs he still takes everything in stride and doesn't forget to honor the greats before him. His art is totally rocking and you can't help becoming entranced by his guitar playing! There is definitely a mystique about him and he is well-versed in his craft. We had an amazing time talking about conjuring up music muses and revering those Blues music spirits (some still at KBON studios). Tunesday Takeover on KBON 101.1
A four-month plan and tireless preparation for a show that's sole mission is to bring more attention to the art of songwriting are now well underway! Having worked briefly in radio in the past, this new gig is nothing short of an adventure. I am enjoying the music, of course, and the carousel of talented musicians flowing through the studio. It feels like home. I've thus far met multi-instrumentalists who create in various modalities and forms but the end product is always top-notch. My first interview was with Lance DuBroc who has been taking North America by storm, touring across the U.S. to collaborate with other songwriters, perform at various music venues and continues penning songs along the way. It was quite eye-opening to hear his process of crafting that song that connect with others. Watch his segment here on December 3rd edition of Tunesday Takeover.

It was fashioned after an old Parisian cabaret and was always filled with amazing sounds and great coffee! I got to perform with my local music heroes and was groomed by some incredible people who I looked up to very much. It was because if this play that basically my journey in theater began. I was introduced to the amazing music 1930s and 40s and fell in love. Well, fast forward to present day, the cafe is now gone replaced by the Wurst Beergarten. The atmosphere of that very spot on Jefferson Street is still quite festive. Cafe Des Artistes is now Cite des Arts and I'm privileged ONCE AGAIN to perform with my old friends whom I love dearly in this impeccable show, The Great American Songbook. These fantastic individuals have only gotten better and are more poised to "bring the house down". I'm so excited to be reunited with these amazing folks. It is my hope that you can join us in some magic August 9-18th as we reignite a fire started so many years ago and share our hearts and love for great music with YOU!
southernrenaissancetag:ericafox.com,2005:Post/58353042019-07-24T15:43:38-05:002023-12-10T10:43:00-06:00Blue Monday Mission at Rock & Bowl, Lafayette
Don't miss a special treat...August 12th!! Anybody remember Cafe des Arts in Lafayette, LA? Here's a hint...it's where Wurst Beer Garden is today! (Although the building is now gone, the energy is still in the air.) Some 20 years ago, an incredibly talented band of folks premiered the "Best of Ain't Misbehavin'" there! I am truly honored to reunite in a special reunion performance with these amazing people again. By the way, I was 5 when I first did the show....okay, maybe not but let me tell ya none of these folks have missed a beat! They are still as incredible as ever!!! Seeing our lovely, small town transform into a cultural epi-center every year with music, dance, cultural wares and exotic new foods was an experience like no other. Having only dreamed of maybe one day performing on the same bandstand where some of my favorite musicians from places like Africa, Canada, Haiti, France and even Southwest Louisiana graced the stage. Well, alas fate has been kind and those dreams will be made real this April! I am beyond humbled, and honored to sing at Festival paying homage to another great Louisiana singer, Ms. Carol Fran! Please come out and "pass a good time" at an incredible event filled with talent from around the world....and the best part, it's free!!! Come get some culture in your life and be amazed as I have been so many years.

The blessings keep on coming! It was already an honor to perform the very show that started my acting career 25 years ago alongside an incredibly accomplished cast of actors and musicians, at one of my favorite places in New Orleans, The National WWII Museum...now this! I am floored beyond belief!

God is so amazing and continually shows me His Power! I am extremely grateful and it is not because of the shiny award or the acknowledgement (although great!) but I am consistently humbled, reminded and shown by God what faith can do! This show was hard work and a lot of sacrifice. I doubted myself constantly of whether I could make it through as I was in chronic pain from a recent car accident, suffered from severe back problems, told to have neck surgery and not to mention I was twice the age of everyone else in the cast (yeah I could have been all their mommas) but I trusted and kept pushing through it because I wanted this opportunity so badly that pain came secondary to my desire to sing and do what I am called to do.

This show, this experience, that moment.....the recognition proves less about me but more of how God's grace IS sufficient. His Power IS made perfect in my weakness and therefore I boast about my weakness, so the Power of Christ may work through me. ( 2 Cor: 12:9) This show was a God experience for me, a true test of faith, along the way I lost some but gained so much more...so much more and that's why I say He Did That!!! Cause God is ALL THAT!! to me.

I was instantly enamored with its atmosphere and restaurant's ability to take you back in time to an era that I so loved. It was a period in history that I fancied the dress and style of the people and constantly watched movies or would study and sing songs of that time period. It so happened that a lovely manager gave my friend and I a tour of the place and it was then that I totally lost my marbles. I learned the restaurant was actually a theater, Isis Theatre, one of Houston's first silent movie-theaters. The place had so much history and a spirit was that was undeniable. I learned the restaurant hosted musical talent and burlesque shows. It was then that I had fallen in love with this wonderful venue and the vision of the company to bring entertainment that pushed the limit and involved the audience in an interactive way. I WANTED to be a part of this. We left the place and I remember saying I want to perform here one day. Well, fast forward 1 year and here I am playing at this lovely playhouse with an incredible host of talented geniuses from all areas of the talent pool. It is so incredible and humbling to be among such gifted individuals. It is amazing to see how with each show we raise the bar even higher. I'm excited to see how high we'll get. Hopefully you can come see our crazy antics too.
